About Ben Bingham

My passion for the law began long before I ever entered a courtroom. In the sixth grade, I was asked to write about what I wanted to be when I grew up. While many of my classmates dreamed of becoming astronauts or veterinarians, I wrote that I wanted to attend law school and build a law practice with my cousin, Joe Benson.

What began as a childhood dream became a lifelong purpose. Forty years later, Benson & Bingham has grown into one of Nevada’s leading personal injury firms, with five offices throughout the state. Our attorneys have helped thousands of injured people navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Through our dedication to our clients and commitment to justice, Benson & Bingham has also become Nevada’s fastest-growing personal injury law firm.

My journey is proof that a childhood vision, backed by hard work, perseverance, and integrity, can become something truly meaningful. For me, the practice of law has never been simply a career. It is an opportunity to stand up for people when they need it most and to make a lasting difference in their lives.

Why did you become an attorney?

  • From a young age, the thought of becoming an advocate always appealed to me. The idea of having a profession that required education, preparation, and the ability to appear in court and present an argument drew me in.

That interest became real when I turned 16 and got my driver’s license. I started working as a runner at a law office and stayed there throughout my college years at UNLV. I gained firsthand experience, learned the ins and outs of the courthouse, and was fortunate to learn from attorneys who ultimately influenced my decision to pursue law. By the time I graduated, I knew I was headed to law school.

The practice of law suits my personality. I enjoy that every day presents a new challenge and that the job is anything but a mundane 9-to-5. I especially enjoy the fight that comes with personal injury work—dealing with insurance adjusters and defense attorneys, digging through medical records, addressing liability issues, and, most importantly, fighting for what is right for my clients.

At the end of the day, I became an attorney because I wanted to be an advocate. Personal injury law gives me the opportunity to put that advocacy to work for people who are often dealing with some of the most difficult circumstances of their lives.

What experiences (work and personal) contributed to your effectiveness as a lawyer?

  • Having broken numerous bones in my body on several occasions (right arm twice, left arm once, seventh cervical vertebra, torn off bottom lip, right ankle twice, left ankle, bruised and broken ribs to name a few) and having plenty of surgeries to correct the same, I can relate to most of the pain and suffering issues clients present. When a client is in pain or doesn’t have their health, it changes their eating habits, sleeping habits, creates depression and makes them sharp tempered. Having personally experienced the challenges associated with pain and suffering and rehabilitation helps me understand the healing process an injured client endures.

What made you choose your primary specialty focus of law?

  • In my early career as an attorney I primarily practiced in the areas of criminal defense and personal injury. While criminal defense provided me with great exposure to the court system, making 5-20 appearances a day, personal injury was my desire. Personally, I feel that an attorney must make the decision to focus on one area of law. It is impractical to be a jack-of-all-tades attorney with the intricacies presented in each area of practice. In 2006, I was able to make the transition and dedicate my practice exclusively to helping personal injury victims.

What makes your law firm unique?

  • At Benson & Bingham, we believe hiring a personal injury attorney should mean more than handing your case over to a case manager and hoping someone gets back to you. Our clients hire us because they want attorneys who know their case, understand what they are going through, and are willing to fight for them.

We have intentionally remained a small, attorney-driven firm so that our clients receive the personal attention they deserve. From the initial consultation through the resolution of the case, our attorneys remain directly involved. You can talk to your lawyer, ask questions, understand what is happening, and know that someone who understands your case is working on your behalf.

We also understand that most people who come to us did not plan on needing a personal injury attorney. They are dealing with an injury, medical treatment, lost wages, insurance companies, and uncertainty about what comes next. Our job is to take as much of that burden off their shoulders as possible so they can focus on getting better.

We handle hundreds of cases each year, but we never want a client to feel like a number. Every injury, every family, and every case is different. We take the time to understand the individual circumstances, develop a strategy, and pursue the best possible result.

Ultimately, what makes Benson & Bingham different is simple: we treat our clients the way we would want our own family treated—with personal attention, honest communication, and a commitment to fight for what they deserve.

Describe your ideal client.

  • While it may sound cliche, we truly gain satisfaction in helping the “little guy”. In the past nineteen years of practicing law we have seen such a shift in insurance companies going from the business of helping people into the business of denying people. The “little guy” doesn’t stand a chance alone. Our ideal client is the average individual who simply becomes the victim of negligence and cannot get the wrongdoer or Insurance company to do the right thing. Perhaps it’s easier to describe the ideal Defendant in a civil action…someone who refuses to accept responsibility.
